Postal notes
§ 5105. Postal notes (a) The Postmaster General may authorize postmasters at offices designated by him to issue and pay money orders not exceeding $10, to be known as postal notes. (b) Postal notes are valid for two calendar months from the last day of the month of their issue, but thereafter the Postmaster General may pay them or make refund in case of loss, upon evidence satisfactory to him. The Postmaster General may not consider a claim filed later than one year from the last day of the month of issue of the postal note unless the original postal note is presented with the claim and a duplicate postal note has not been issued therefor.
