for funds deposited in banks
§ 5216. Security for funds deposited in banks The Board of Trustees, to the extent that the deposits are not insured under section 264 of title 12, shall require banks receiving deposits of postal savings funds to provide such security in public bonds or other securities authorized by act of Congress, or supported by the taxing power, as it deems sufficient and necessary to insure the safety and prompt payment of the deposits.
