(a) The table in section 215(a) of the Social Security Act is amended by striking out all the figures in columns I, II, III, IV, and V down through the line which reads “$13.49 14.00 37.10 38.00 68 69 41 61.50” and inserting in lieu thereof the following: “ $13.48 $37.00 $67 $40 $60.00 $13.49 14 $37.10 38.00 $68 69 41 61.50”. (b) The amendment made by subsection (a) shall apply only in the case of monthly insurance benefits under title II of the Social Security Act for months beginning on or after the effective date of this title, and in the case of lump-sum death payments under such title with respect to deaths on or after such effective date.
