Qualifications of jurors
§ 11–2301. Qualifications of jurors (a) Any citizen of the United States who has attained the age of 2i years and who has resided for a period of one year within the District of Columbia is competent to serve as a grand or petit juror in courts of the District unless he: (1) has been convicted in a State, territorial, or federal court of record, or court of the District, of a crime punishable by imprisonment for more than one year, and his civil rights have not been restored by pardon or amnesty; (2) is unable to read, write, speak and understand the English language; or 77 Stat. 506 (3) is incapable by reason of mental or physical infirmities to render efficient jury service. (b) An otherwise qualified person is not disqualified from jury service by reason of sex, but a woman may not be compelled so to serve.
