Coast and Geodetic Survey salaries and expenses For expenses necessary to carry out the provisions of the Act of August 6, 1947, as amended (33 U.S.C. 883a–883i), including hire, operation and maintenance of two aircraft; pay, allowances, gratuities, transportation of dependents and household effects, and payment of funeral expenses, as authorized by law, for an authorized strength of 250 commissioned officers on the active list; and pay of commissioned officers retired in accordance with law; $29,200,000, of which $988,000 shall be available for retirement pay of commissioned officers and payments under the Retired Serviceman’s Family Protection Plan: Provided, That during the current fiscal year, this appropriation shall be reimbursed for at least press costs and costs of paper for charts published by the Coast and Geodetic Survey and furnished for the official use of the military departments of the Department of Defense. construction and equipment For expenses necessary for construction and equipment of magnetic, seismological, and other facilities as authorized by the Act of August 6, 1947 (33 U.S.C. 883i), $770,000, to remain available until expended.
