Suits by foreign executors and administrators
§ 20–1505. Suits by foreign executors and administratorsA person to whom letters testamentary or of administration have been granted by the proper authority in any of the United States or the territories thereof may maintain a suit or action and prosecute and recover a claim in the District of Columbia in the same manner as if the letters had been granted to him in the District. The letters, or a copy thereof certified under the seal of the authority granting them, are sufficient evidence to prove the granting of the letters, and that the person has administration. The Probate Court of the District of Columbia may, however, upon the petition of any one interested, require from the person the security required by law in like cases from a resident administrator or executor, or the court may grant auxiliary or ancillary letters, if the case requires, to the same person or other persons.
