POSITION OF DEPUTY UNDER SECRETARY OF DEFENSE FOR POLICY.

SEC. 901. POSITION OF DEPUTY UNDER SECRETARY OF DEFENSE FOR POLICY. (a) Establishment.— (1) Chapter 4 of title 10, United States Code, is amended by inserting after section 134 the following new section: “§ 134a. Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Policy “(a) There is a Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Policy, appointed from civilian life by the President, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate. “(b) The Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Policy shall assist the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy in the performance of his duties. The Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Policy shall act for, and exercise the powers of, the Under Secretary when the Under Secretary is absent or disabled.”. (2) The table of sections at the beginning of such chapter is amended by inserting after the item relating to section 134 the following: “134a. Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Policy.“. (b) Executive Schedule Level IV.—Section 5315 of title 5, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the following: “Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Policy.”.
