§ 6309. Leave of absence; rural carriers The authorized absence of a rural carrier on a Saturday which occurs at the beginning, within, or at the end of a period of annual or sick leave of at least 5 days’ duration, or 4 days’ duration if a holiday falls at the beginning, within, or at the end of the period of annual or sick leave, is without charge to leave or loss of pay. A Saturday occurring in a period of annual or sick leave taken in a smaller number of days, at the option of the carrier, may be charged to his accrued leave and when so charged he is entitled to be paid for that absence.
