SEC. 550. TEST ASSIGNMENTS OF FEMALE SERVICE MEMBERS TO COMBAT POSITIONS. (a) Test Assignments.—In carrying out its duties, the Commission may request the Secretary of Defense to conduct test assignments of female service members to combat positions. The Secretary shall determine, in consultation with the Commission, the types of tests that are appropriate and shall retain a record of the disposition of each such request. (b) Waiver Authority.—For the purpose of conducting test assignments of female service members to combat positions pursuant to requests under subsection (a), the Secretary of Defense may waive section 6015 of title 10, United States Code, and any other restriction that applies under Department of Defense regulations or policy to the assignment of female service members to combat positions.
