maximum amount of a wife’s or husband’s insurance benefit Sec. 103. (a) Section 202(b)(2) of the Social Security Act is amended to read as follows: “(2) Except as provided in subsection (q), such wife’s insurance benefit for each month shall be equal to whichever of the following is the smaller: (A) one-half of the primary insurance amount of her husband (or, in the case of a divorced wife, her former husband) for such month or (B) $105.” (b) Section 202(c)(3) of such Act is amended to read as follows: “(3) Except as provided in subsection (q), such husband’s insurance benefit for each month shall be equal to whichever of the following is the smaller: (A) one-half of the primary insurance amount of his wife for such month, or (B) $105.” (c) Section 202(e)(4) of such Act is amended by striking out “50 per centum of the primary insurance amount of the deceased individual on whose wages and self-employment income such benefit is based” and inserting in lieu thereof “whichever of the following is the smaller: (A) one-half of the primary insurance amount of the deceased individual on whose wages and self-employment income such benefit is based, or (B) $105”. (d) Section 202(f)(5) of such Act is amended by striking out “50 per centum of the primary insurance amount of the deceased individual on whose wages and self-employment income such benefit is based” and inserting in lieu thereof “whichever of the following is the smaller: (A) one-half of the primary insurance amount of the deceased individual on whose wages and self-employment income such benefit is based, or (B) $105”. (e) The amendments made by subsections (a), (b), (e). and (d) shall apply with respect to monthly benefits under title II of the Social Security Act for months after January 1968.
