method of payment to physicians under supplementary medical insurance program Sec. 125. (a) Section 1842(b)(3)(B) of the Social Security Act is amended— (1) by striking out “(i)”; and (2) by striking out “and (ii)” and all that follows and inserting in lieu thereof the following: “and such payment will be made— “(i) on the basis of an itemized bill; or “(ii) on the basis of an assignment under the terms of which the reasonable charge is the full charge for the service; but (in the case of bills submitted, or requests for payment made, after March 1968) only if the bill is submitted, or a written request for payment is made in such other form as may be permitted under regulations, no later than the close of the calendar year following the year in which such service is furnished (deeming any service furnished in the last 3 months of any calendar year to have been furnished in the succeeding calendar year) 81 Stat. 846 (b) The amendments made by subsection (a) shall apply with respect to claims on which a final determination has not been made on or before the date of enactment of this Act.
