SEC. 109. CONTINUED COVERAGE UNDER CERTAIN FEDERAL EMPLOYEE Columbia. BENEFIT PROGRAMS FOR CERTAIN EMPLOYEES OF SAINT ELIZABETHS HOSPITAL. (a) In General— Section 207 of the Federal Employees’ Retirement System Act of 1986 (Public Law 99–335; 100 Stat. 594) is amended by adding at the end the following: “(o) An employee of Saint Elizabeths Hospital who is appointed to a position in the government of the District of Columbia on October 1, 1987, pursuant to the Saint Elizabeths Hospital and District of Columbia Mental Health Services Act (Public Law 98–621; 98 Stat. 3369 and following) shall, for purposes of chapters 83, 87, and 89 of title 5, United States Code, be treated in the same way as an individual first employed by the government of the District of Columbia before October 1, 1987.”. 101 STAT. 1749 (b) The amendment made by this section shall be effective as of October 1, 1987.
