DEFINITIONS.
SEC. 6059. DEFINITIONS. For the purposes of this part, the following definitions apply: (1) IVHS.— The term “intelligent vehicle-highway systems” means the development or application of electronics, communications, or information processing (including advanced traffic management systems, commercial vehicle operations, advanced traveler information systems, commercial and advanced vehicle control systems, advanced public transportation systems, satellite vehicle tracking systems, and advanced vehicle communications systems) used singly or in combination to improve the efficiency and safety of surface transportation systems. (2) Corridor.— The term “corridor” means any major transportation route which includes parallel limited access highways, major arterials, or transit lines; and, with regard to traffic incident management, such term may include more distant transportation routes that can serve as viable options to each other in the event of traffic incidents. (3) State.— The term “State” has the meaning such term has under section 101 of title 23, United States Code.
