§ 211. Acting Director and Deputy Director. The President may authorize any person who immediately prior to the date of enactment of this Act held a position in the executive branch of the Government to act as the Director or Deputy Director until the position in question is for the first time filled pursuant to the provisions of this title ‘or by recess appointment, as the ease may be, and the President may authorize any such person to receive the compensation attached to the office in respect of which he serves. Such compensation, if authorized, shall be, in lieu of but not in addition to other compensation from the United States to which such person may be entitled.
