Department of Defense Civil Defense Preparedness Agency operation and maintenance For expenses, not otherwise provided for, necessary for carrying out civil defense activities, including the hire of motor vehicles: and financial contributions to the States for civil defense purposes, as authorized by law; $60,335,000: Provided, That not to exceed $25,000,000 shall be available for allocation under section 205 of the Federal Civil Defense Act of 1950, as amended: Provided further, That $29,041,000 of the amount appropriated is contingent upon enactment of authorizing legislation. research, shelter survey, and marking For expenses, not otherwise provided for, necessary for studies anti research to develop measures and plans for civil defense: continuing shelter surveys, marking, stocking, and equipping surveyed spaces; and financial contributions to the States under section 201 (i) of the Federal Civil Defense Act, which shall be equally matched, for emergency operating centers and civil defense equipment; $23,200,000, to remain available until expended.
