Legal Activities and General Administration salaries and expenses, general administration For expenses necessary for the administration of the Department of Justice and for examination of judicial offices, including purchase (one for replacement only) and hire of passenger motor vehicles; and miscellaneous and emergency expenses authorized or approved by the Attorney General or the Assistant Attorney General for Administration; $15,834,000, of which $2,800,000 is for the Watergate Special Prosecution Force. salaries and expenses, general legal activities For expenses necessary for the legal activities of the Department of Justice, not otherwise provided for, including miscellaneous and emergency expenses authorized or approved by the Attorney General or the Assistant Attorney General for Administration; not. to exceed $30,000 for expenses of collecting evidence, to be expended under the direction of the Attorney General and accounted for solely on his certificate; and advances of public moneys pursuant to law (31 U.S.C. 529); $50,111,000: Provided, That not to exceed $170,000 may be transferred to this appropriation from the “Alien Property Fund, World War II”, for the general administrative expenses of alien property activities, including rent of private or Government-owned space in the District of Columbia. salaries and expenses, antitrust division For expenses necessary for the enforcement of antitrust, consumer protection and kindred laws, $13,019,000: Provided, That none of this appropriation shall be expended for the establishment and maintenance of permanent regional offices of the Antitrust Division. salaries and expenses, united states attorneys and marshals For necessary expenses of the offices of the United States attorneys and marshals, including purchase of firearms and ammunition; $99,300,000: Provided, That of the amount herein appropriated not to exceed $200,000 shall be available for payment of compensation and expenses of Commissioners appointed in condemnation cases under Rule 71A (h) of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure. 87 Stat. 642 fees and expenses of witnesses For expenses, mileage, and per diems of witnesses and for per diems in lieu of subsistence, as authorized by law, and not to exceed $1,000,000 for such compensation and expenses of expert witnesses pursuant to section 524 of title 28, United States Code, and sections 4244–48 of title 18, United States Code; $12,500,000: Provided, That no part of the sum herein appropriated shall be used to pay any witness more than one attendance fee for any one calendar day. salaries and expenses, community relations service For necessary expenses of the Community Relations Service established by title X of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (42 U.S.C. 2000g–2000g–2), $2,818,000.
