Sec. 82. Section 5 of the Flood Control Act approved August 18, 1941, as amended (33 U.S.C. 701 n), is amended as follows: (1) The first sentence is amended by striking out “in the amount of $15.000.000”. (2) By inserting immediately after the first sentence the following new sentence: “The Chief of Engineers, in the exercise of his discretion, is further authorized to provide emergency supplies of clean drinking water, on such terms as he determines to be advisable, to any locality which he finds is confronted with a source of contaminated drinking water causing or likely to cause a substantial threat to the public health and welfare of the inhabitants of the locality.” 88 Stat. 35 (3) The proviso in the next to the last sentence is amended by striking out “of said sum,” and inserting in lieu thereof the following: “of sums to such emergency fund,”.
