emergency assistance Sec. 305. (a) In any emergency, the President may provide assistance to save lives and protect property and public health and safety. (b) The President may provide such emergency assistance by directing Federal agencies to provide technical assistance and advisory personnel to the affected State to assist the State and local governments in— (1) the performance of essential community services; warning of further risks and hazards; public information and assistance in health and safety measures; technical advice on management and control; and reduction of immediate threats to public health and safety; and (2) the distribution of medicine, food, and other consumable supplies, or emergency assistance. (c) In addition, in any emergency, the President is authorized to provide such other assistance under this Act as the President deems appropriate.
