development of standards for juvenile justice Sec. 247. (a) The National Institute for Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, under the supervision of the Advisory Committee on Standards for Juvenile Justice established in section 208(e), shall review existing reports, data, and standards, relating to the juvenile justice system in the United States. 88 Stat. 1128 (b) Not later than one year after the passage of this section, the Advisory Committee shall submit to the President and the Congress a report which, based on recommended standards for the administration of juvenile justice at the Federal, State, and local level— (1) recommends Federal action, including but not limited to administrative and legislative action, required to facilitate the adoption of these standards throughout the United States; and (2) recommends State and local action to facilitate the adoption of these standards for juvenile justice at the State and local level. (c) Each department, agency, and instrumentality of the executive branch of the Government, including independent agencies, is authorized and directed to furnish to the Advisory Committee such information as the Committee deems necessary to carry out its functions under this section.
