CERTAIN UNEMPLOYMENT COMPENSATION.
SEC. 701. CERTAIN UNEMPLOYMENT COMPENSATION. (a) Amendment of Emergency Unemployment Compensation Act of 1974.— Section 102(e) of the Emergency Unemployment Compensation Act of 1974 is amended— (1) in paragraph (2) thereof, by striking out “The amount” and inserting in lieu thereof “Except as provided in paragraph (3), the amount”; and 89 STAT. 66 (2) by adding at the end thereof the following new paragraph: “(3) Effective only with respect to benefits for weeks of unemployment ending before July 1, 1975, the amount established in such account for any individual shall be equal to the lesser of— “(A) 100 per centum of the total amount of regular compensation (including dependents’ allowances) payable to him with respect to the benefit year (as determined under the State law) on the basis of which he most recently received regular compensation; or “(B) twenty-six times bis average weekly benefit amount (as determined for purposes of section 202(b)(1)(C) of the Federal-State Extended Unemployment Compensation Act of 1970) for his benefit year.” (b) Modification of Agreements.— The Secretary of Labor shall, at the earliest practicable date after the enactment of this Act, propose to each State with which he has in effect an agreement entered into pursuant to section 102 of the Emergency Unemployment Compensation Act of 1974 a modification of such agreement designed to cause payments of emergency compensation thereunder to be made in the manner prescribed by such Act, as amended by subsection (a) of this section. Notwithstanding any provision of the Emergency Unemployment Compensation Act of 1974, if any such State shall fail or refuse, within a reasonable time after the date of the enactment of this Act, to enter into such a modification of such agreement, the Secretary of Labor shall terminate such agreement.
