interstate system resurfacing Sec. 106. (a) In addition to any other funds authorized for the Interstate System, there is authorized to be appropriated out of the Highway Trust Fund not to exceed $175,000,000 for the fiscal year ending September 30, 1978, and $175,000,000 for the fiscal year ending September 30, 1979. Such sums shall be obligated only for projects for resurfacing, restoring, and rehabilitating those lanes on the Interstate System which have been in use for more than five years and which are not on toll roads. (b) Paragraph (5) of subsection (b) of section 104 of title 23, United States Code, is amended by inserting “(A) Except as provided in subparagraph (B)—” immediately after “(5)” and by adding at the end of such paragraph the following: “(B) For resurfacing, restoring, and rehabilitating the Interstate System: 90 STAT. 430 “In the ratio which the lane mites on the Interstate System which have been in use for more than five years (other than those on toll roads) in each State bears to the total of the lane miles on the Inter-State System which have been in use for more than five years (other than those on toll roads) in all States.”.
