Sec. 309. (a) That the Secretary of the Interior is authorized to acquire by donation, purchase with donated or appropriated funds, or exchange approximately four thousand two hundred and thirty-four acres comprising part of the Canada de Cochiti Giant adjacent to the southern boundary of Bandelier National Monument, New Mexico, and approximately three thousand and seventy-six acres containing the headwaters of the Rito de los Frijoles adjacent to the northwestern boundary for addition to the monument. Lands and interests therein owned by the State of New Mexico or any political subdivision thereof may be acquired only by donation or exchange. (b) Lands and interests therein acquired pursuant to this Act shall thereupon become part of Bandelier National Monument and subject to all laws and regulations applicable thereto. (c) There are hereby authorized to be appropriated not to exceed $1,463,000 for the acquisition of land.
