assistant secretary of state for international narcotics matters Sec. 115. (a) There is established in the Department of State, in addition to the positions provided under the first section of the Act of May 26, 1949 (22 U.S.C. 2652), an Assistant Secretary of State for International Narcotics Matters, who shall be appointed by the President, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate. The Assistant Secretary shall be responsible for the overall coordination of the role of the Department of State in the international aspects of narcotics problems. (b) (1) Section 5315 of title 5, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end thereof the following new paragraph: “(122) Assistant Secretary for International Narcotics Matters, Department of State.”. (2) The amendment made by paragraph (1) of this subsection shall take effect on October 1, 1978.
