SEC. 151. TECHNICAL AMENDMENTS. (a) Terminology.— The Education of the Deaf Act of 1986 (20 U.S.C. 4301 et seq.) is amended— (1) by striking “deaf individuals” each place such term appears and inserting “individuals who are deaf”; (2) by striking “deaf people” each place such term appears and inserting “individuals who are deaf”; 106 STAT. 2164 (3) by striking “deaf children” each place such term appears and inserting “children who are deaf”; (4) by striking “the deaf” each place such term appears and inserting “individuals who are deaf”; and (5) in section 206 (as redesignated by section 101(b)(6) of this Act), in the heading for the section, by striking “FOR THE DEAF”. (b) Other Amendments.— Section 201 of the Education of the Deaf Act of 1986, as redesignated by section 101(b)(6) of this Act and amended by subsection (a) of this section, is amended— (1) in paragraph (2), by striking “thereof’ and inserting “therein”; (2) in paragraph (3), by inserting “or hard-of-hearing” after “children who are deaf”; and (3) in paragraph (4) (as redesignated by section 131(2)(B) of this Act)— (A) in the first sentence, in each of subparagraphs (A) through (E), by striking the last comma and inserting a semicolon; and (B) in the second sentence, by striking “clause” and inserting “subparagraph”.
