SEC. 2609. FEDERAL ONSHORE OIL AND GAS LEASING. The first sentence of section 17(e) of the Mineral Leasing Act (30 U.S.C. 226(e)) is amended by striking the phrase starting with “Competitive leases” and ending with “ten years: Provided, however,” and inserting in lieu thereof the following: “Competitive and noncompetitive leases issued under this section shall be for a primary term of 10 years: Provided, however”.
