SEC. 101. ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION. (a) Federal Safety Standards and Reports.— Section 3(a) of the Natural Gas Pipeline Safety Act of 1968 (49 U.S.C. App. 1672(a)) is amended— (1) in paragraph (1) by inserting “and the protection of the environment” after “need for pipeline safety”; (2) in paragraph (1)(D) by inserting “and the protection of the environment” after “contribute to public safety”; and (3) in paragraph (3)(A) by striking “or property” and inserting “, property, or the environment”. (b) Corrective Action.— Section 12(b) of such Act (49 U.S.C. App. 1679b(b)) is amended— (1) in paragraph (1) by striking “or property,” and inserting “, property, or the environment,”; (2) in paragraph (2)(A) by striking “or property,” and inserting “, property, or the environment,”; (3) in paragraph (2)(B)— (A) by striking “or property,” and inserting “, property, or the environment,”; and (B) by striking “or property.” and inserting “, property, or the environment.”; and (4) in paragraph (5) by striking “or property.” and inserting “, property, or the environment”.
