SEC. 132. STUDY OF SMALL AIRPORT RUNWAY MAINTENANCE (a) Study.—The Secretary of Transportation shall conduct a study to assess the ability of airports which annually enplane .05 percent or less of total enplanements in the United States to finance the maintenance of runways, aprons, and taxiways constructed under the Airport Improvement Program, whether or not it would be desirable to make maintenance of runways, aprons, and taxiways eligible projects for grants under the Airport Improvement Program, and whether or not the result of making such maintenance eligible projects would be to reduce the long-term costs of airport development. (b) Report.—Not later than 1 year after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary shall transmit to Congress a report containing the results of the study conducted under subsection (a), together with recommendations.
