§ 44931. Director of Intelligence and Security (a) Organization.—There is in the Office of the Secretary of Transportation a Director of Intelligence and Security. The Director reports directly to the Secretary. (b) Duties and Powers.—The Director shall— (1) receive, assess, and distribute intelligence information related to long-term transportation security; (2) develop policies, strategies, and plans for dealing with threats to transportation security; (3) make other plans related to transportation security, including coordinating countermeasures with appropriate departments, agencies, and instrumentalities of the United States Government; (4) serve as the primary liaison of the Secretary to the intelligence and law enforcement communities; and (5) carry out other duties and powers the Secretary decides are necessary to ensure, to the extent possible, the security of the traveling public.
