ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY INFORMATION.
SEC. 146. ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY INFORMATION. (a) Definitions.—Section 102 of the Older Americans Act of 1965 (42 U.S.C. 3002) is amended by adding at the end the following: “(8) The term ‘assistive technology’ means technology, engineering methodologies, or scientific principles appropriate to meet the needs of, and address the barriers confronted by, older individuals with functional limitations. “(9) The term ‘information and referral’ includes information relating to assistive technology.”. (b) Client Assessment Through Case Management.—Section 321(a) of the Older Americans Act of 1965 (42 U.S.C. 3030d(a)) is amended by adding at the end the following: “For purposes of paragraph (5), the term ‘client assessment through case management’ includes providing information relating to assistive technology.”. (c) Multidisciplinary Centers of Gerontology.—Section 412(a) of the Older Americans Act of 1966 (42 U.S.C. 3032(a)) is amended— (1) in paragraph (5) by striking “and” at the end, (2) in paragraph (6) by striking the period at the end and inserting “; and”, and (3) by adding at the end the following: “(7) if appropriate, provide information relating to assistive technology.”.
