SEC. 1063. PROHIBITION ON THE PURCHASE OF SURETY BONDS AND OTHER GUARANTEES FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE. (a) Prohibition.— Subchapter I of chapter 134 of title 10, United States Code, as amended by section 372, is further amended by adding at the end the following new section: “§ 2248. Purchase of surety bonds: prohibition “Funds appropriated or otherwise made available to the Department of Defense for fiscal years 1995 through 1999 may not be obligated or expended for the purchase of surety bonds or other guarantees of financial responsibility in order to guarantee the performance of any direct function of the Department of Defense.”. (b) Clerical Amendment.— The table of sections at the beginning of such subchapter is amended by adding at the end the following new item: “2248. Purchase of surety bonds: prohibition.”.
