GOALS 2000: EDUCATE AMERICA ACT.
SEC. 361. GOALS 2000: EDUCATE AMERICA ACT. (a) Repeals.— Sections 231, 232, 234, and 235 of the Goals 2000: Educate America Act (20 U.S.C. 5861, 5862, 5863, and 5864) are repealed. (b) Gift Authority.— (1) National education goals panel.— Section 204 of the Goals 2000: Educate America Act (20 U.S.C. 5824) is amended by adding at the end the following new subsection: 108 STAT. 3975 “(f) Gifts.— The Goals Panel may accept, administer, and utilize gifts or donations of services, money, or property, whether real or personal, tangible or intangible.”. (2) National education standards and improvement council.— Section 215 of the Goals 2000: Educate America Act (20 U.S.C. 5845) is amended by adding at the end the following new subsection: “(f) Gifts.— The Council may accept, administer, and utilize gifts or donations of services, money, or property, whether real or personal, tangible or intangible”. (c) Local Agency Plan Approval.— Paragraph 4 of section 309(a) of the Goals 2000: Educate America Act (20 U.S.C. 5889) is amended by inserting “made by the local educational agency” after “modifications”. (d) State Planning for Improving Student Achievement Through Integration of Technology Into the Curriculum.— Subsection (b) of section 317 of the Goals 2000: Educate America Act (20 U.S.C. 5897(b)) is amended by adding at the end the following new paragraph: “(3) Outlying areas.— (A) From the amount appropriated pursuant to the authority of subsection (f) for fiscal year 1995, the Secretary shall reserve a total of 1 percent to provide assistance under this section— “(i) to the outlying areas; and “(ii) for the Secretary of the Interior to conduct directly or through a contract, systemic technology planning for Bureau-funded schools. “(B) The funds reserved under subparagraph (A) shall be distributed among the outlying areas and the Secretary of the Interior by the Secretary according to the relative need of such areas and schools for assistance under this section.”.
