SEC. 301. REQUIREMENT OF CONSIDERATION OF NEEDS OF INDIAN HEALTH SERVICE, CERTAIN INDIAN TRIBES, AND THE HOMELESS. Section 331 (42 U.S.C. 254d) is amended— (1) by redesignating subsection (h) as subsection (i); and (2) by inserting after subsection (g) the following new subsection: “(h) In assigning members of the Corps to health manpower shortage areas, to the extent practicable, the Secretary shall— “(1) give priority to meeting the needs of the Indian Health Service and the needs of health programs or facilities operated by tribes or tribal organizations under the Indian Self-Determination Act (25 U.S.C. 450f et seq.); and “(2) provide special consideration to the homeless populations who do not have access to primary health care services.”.
