Sec. 306. (a) The General Accounting Office, the Government Printing Office, or the Library of Congress may for such employees as it deems appropriate authorize a payment to employees who voluntarily separate before January 1, 1994, whether by retirement 107 STAT. 710or resignation, which payment shall be paid in accordance with the provisions of section 5597(d) of title 5, United States Code. (b) The number of employee positions authorized for the General Accounting Office, the Government Printing Office, or the Library of Congress, as the case may be, shall be reduced by one position for each vacancy created by reason of a separation under subsection (a). No funds appropriated by this Act for salaries or expenses of any position that is eliminated under the preceding sentence may be used for any other purpose.
