SEC. 102. DUTIES AND COMPOSITION OF NATIONAL ADVISORY COUNCIL ON HEALTH CARE TECHNOLOGY ASSESSMENT. Section 305(h) (as redesignated in section 101(1) of this Act) is amended— (1) in the last sentence of paragraph (1), by striking out “shall assist the Director in developing” and inserting in lieu thereof “shall make recommendations to the Director with respect to the development of”; and (2) by striking out paragraph (3) and inserting in lieu thereof the following new paragraph: “(3)(A) The Secretary shall appoint to the Council— “(i) six individuals distinguished in the fields of medicine, engineering, and science (including social science); “(ii) four individuals distinguished in the fields of law, ethics, economics, and management; and “(iii) two individuals representing the interests of consumers of health care services. 101 STAT. 988 “(B) The Secretary shall ensure that members of the Council, as a group, are representative of professions and entities concerned with, or affected by, health care technology.”.
