SEC. 3189. SENSE OF CONGRESS ON COMMENCEMENT OF EMPLACEMENT OF TRANSURANIC WASTE. (a) In General.— Section 10 of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant Land Withdrawal Act (106 Stat. 4789) is amended to read as follows: “SEC. 10. SENSE OF CONGRESS ON COMMENCEMENT OF EMPLACEMENT OF TRANSURANIC WASTE. “It is the sense of Congress that the Secretary should complete all actions required under section 7(b) to commence emplacement of transuranic waste underground for disposal at WIPP not later than November 30, 1997, provided that before that date all applicable health and safety standards have been met and all applicable laws have been complied with.”. (b) Clerical Amendment.— The item relating to section 10 in the table of contents in section 1 is amended to read as follows: “Sec. 10. Sense of Congress on commencement of emplacement of transuranic waste.”.
