SEC. 341. COLUMBIA RIVER DREDGING, OREGON AND WASHINGTON.The project for navigation, Lower Willamette and Columbia Rivers below Vancouver, Washington, and Portland, Oregon, authorized by the 1st section of the Act entitled “An Act making appropriations for the construction, repair, preservation, and completion of certain public works on rivers and harbors, and for other purposes”, approved June 18, 1878 (20 Stat. 157), is modified to direct the Secretary— (1) to conduct channel simulation and to carry out improvements to the existing deep draft channel between the mouth of the river and river mile 34 at a cost not to exceed $2,400,000; and (2) to conduct overdepth and advance maintenance dredging that is necessary to maintain authorized channel dimensions.
