SEC. 734. PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS OF PHYSICIANS PROVIDING MILITARY HEALTH CARE. (a) Requirement for Unrestricted License.— Section 1094(a)(1) of title 10, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the following: “In the case of a physician, the physician may not provide health care as a physician under this chapter unless the current license is an unrestricted license that is not subject to limitation on the scope of practice ordinarily granted to other physicians for a similar specialty by the jurisdiction that granted the license”. 112 STAT. 2073 (b) Satisfaction of Continuing Medical Education Requirements.— (1) Chapter 55 of title 10, United States Code, is amended by inserting after section 1094 the following new section: “§ 1094a. Continuing medical education requirements: system for monitoring physician compliance “The Secretary of Defense shall establish a mechanism for ensuring that each person under the jurisdiction of the Secretary of a military department who provides health care under this chapter as a physician satisfies the continuing medical education requirements applicable to the physician.”. (2) The table of sections at the beginning of such chapter is amended by inserting after the item relating to section 1094 the following new item: “1094a. Continuing medical education requirements: system for monitoring physician compliance.”. (c) Effective Dates.— (1) The amendment made by subsection (a) shall take effect on October 1, 1999. (2) The system required by section 1094a of title 10, United States Code (as added by subsection (b)), shall take effect on the date that is three years after the date of the enactment of this Act.
