SEC. 4408. RECLASSIFICATION OF CERTAIN COUNTIES AS LARGE URBAN AREAS UNDER MEDICARE PROGRAM. (a) In General.—For purposes of section 1886(d) of the Social Security Act (42 U.S.C. 1395ww(d)), the large urban area of Charlotte-Gastonia-Rock Hill-North Carolina-South Carolina may be deemed to include Stanly County, North Carolina. (b) Effective Date.—This section shall apply with respect to discharges occurring on or after October 1, 1997.
