SEC. 5101. EXTENSION OF DEADLINE TO PERFORM CHILDHOOD DISABILITY REDETERMINATIONS. Section 211(d)(2) of the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996 (Public Law 104–193; 110 Stat. 2190) is amended— (1) in subparagraph (A)— (A) in the 1st sentence, by striking “1 year” and inserting “18 months”; and (B) by inserting after the 1st sentence the following: “Any redetermination required by the preceding sentence that is not performed before the end of the period described in the preceding sentence shall be performed as soon as is practicable thereafter.”; and (2) in subparagraph (C), by adding at the end the following: “Before commencing a redetermination under the 2nd sentence of subparagraph (A), in any case in which the individual involved has not already been notified of the provisions of this paragraph, the Commissioner of Social Security shall notify the individual involved of the provisions of this paragraph.”.
