Sec. 8075. (a) The Secretary of Defense shall conduct through the Civilian Health and Medical Program of the Uniformed Services (CHAMPUS) a demonstration project on the treatment of alcohol-ism designed to compare the use of chemical aversion therapy with the use of other treatments. At the conclusion of the demonstration project, the Secretary shall submit to the Committees on Appropriations and Armed Services of the Senate and House of Representatives a report on the results of the project: Provided, That the demonstration project shall be conducted at only one location: Provided further, That coverage for chemical aversion therapy under this demonstration project is extended to those beneficiaries referred for such treatment by a physician, psychiatrist or psychologist recognized as an authorized provider under CHAMPUS. (b) Until the report required by subsection (a) is submitted, the Secretary of Defense shall ensure that coverage of beneficiaries under section 1079(a) or 1086(a) of title 10, United States Code, shall continue under the provisions of subsection (a).
