SEC. 553. PRESERVATION OF ENTITLEMENT TO EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE OF MEMBERS OF THE SELECTED RESERVE SERVING ON ACTIVE DUTY IN SUPPORT OF A CONTINGENCY OPERATION. (a) Preservation of Educational Assistance.—Section 16131(c)(3)(B)(i) of title 10, United States Code, is amended by striking out “, in connection with the Persian Gulf War,”. (b) Extension of 10-Year Period of Availability.—Section 16133(b)(4) of such title is amended— (1) by striking out “(A)”; (2) by striking out “, during the Persian Gulf War,”; (3) by redesignating clauses (i) and (ii) as subparagraphs (A) and (B), respectively; and 111 STAT. 1749 (4) by striking out “(B) For the purposes” and all that follows through “title 38.”.
