GRANTS FOR TREATMENT DRUGS FOR ACQUIRED IMMUNE DEFICIENCY SYNDROME.
SECTION 1. GRANTS FOR TREATMENT DRUGS FOR ACQUIRED IMMUNE DEFICIENCY SYNDROME.Part B of title III of the Public Health Service Act (42 U.S.C. 243 et seq.) is amended by inserting after section 314 the following new section: “SEC. 315. GRANTS FOR TREATMENT DRUGS FOR ACQUIRED IMMUNE DEFICIENCY SYNDROME. “(a) Authority.—The Secretary, may make grants to the States for the purpose of assisting grantees in the provision of drugs determined to prolong the life of individuals found to have acquired immune deficiency syndrome and related conditions. “(b) Authorization of Appropriations.—For the purpose of carrying out subsection (a), there is authorized to be appropriated $15,000,000. “(c) Period for Grants.—No grant may be made under this section after March 31, 1989. “(d) Repealer.—This section shall cease to exist on March 31, 1989.”.
