SEC. 3139. MODIFICATION AND EXTENSION OF AUTHORITY RELATING TO APPOINTMENT OF CERTAIN SCIENTIFIC, ENGINEERING, AND TECHNICAL PERSONNEL. (a) Repeal of Requirement for EPA Study.—Section 3161 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 1995 (Public Law 103–337; 108 Stat. 3095; 42 U.S.C. 7231 note) is amended— (1) by striking out subsection (c); and (2) by redesignating subsection (d) as subsection (c). (b) Extension of Authority.—Paragraph (1) of subsection (c) of such section, as so redesignated, is amended by striking out “September 30, 1997” and inserting in lieu thereof “September 30, 1999”.
