SEC. 1007. PENALTIES AND ENFORCEMENT. (a) Civil Penalties.—Paragraph (1) of subsection (a) of section 11 of the Endangered Species Act (16 U.S.C. 1540) is amended by striking “$10,000” and inserting in lieu thereof “$25,000”, and by striking “$5,000” and inserting in lieu thereof “$12,000”. (b) Criminal Violations.—Paragraph (1) of subsection (b) of section 11 of the Endangered Species Act (16 U.S.C. 1540) is amended by striking “$20,000” and inserting in lieu thereof “$50,000”, and by striking “$10,000” and inserting in lieu thereof “$25,000”. (c) Rewards.—Subsection (d) of section 11 of the Endangered Species Act (16 U.S.C. 1540) is amended by adding at the end thereof the following sentence; “Whenever the balance of sums received under this section and section 6(d) of the Act of November 16, 1981 (16 U.S.C. 3375(d)), as penalties or fines, or from forfeitures of property, exceed $500,000, the Secretary of the Treasury shall deposit an amount equal to such excess balance in the cooperative endangered species conservation fund established under section 6(i) of this Act.”.
