ACCESS TO COMPUTERS AND COMPUTER DATA OF EXECUTIVE BRANCH EMPLOYEES WITH ACCESS TO CLASSIFIED INFORMATION.
SEC. 305. ACCESS TO COMPUTERS AND COMPUTER DATA OF EXECUTIVE BRANCH EMPLOYEES WITH ACCESS TO CLASSIFIED INFORMATION. (a) Access.—Section 801(a)(3) of the National Security Act of 1947 (50 U.S.C. 435(a)(3)) is amended by striking “and travel records” and inserting “travel records, and computers used in the performance of Government duties”. (b) Computer Defined.—Section 804 of that Act (50 U.S.C. 438) is amended— (1) by striking “and” at the end of paragraph (6); (2) by striking the period at the end of paragraph (7) and inserting “; and”; and (3) by adding at the end the following: 113 STAT. 1612 “(8) the term ‘computer’ means any electronic, magnetic, optical, electrochemical, or other high speed data processing device performing logical, arithmetic, or storage functions, and includes any data storage facility or communications facility directly related to or operating in conjunction with such device and any data or other information stored or contained in such device.”. (c) Applicability.—The President shall modify the procedures required by section 801(a)(3) of the National Security Act of 1947 to take into account the amendment to that section made by subsection (a) of this section not later than 90 days after the date of the enactment of this Act.
