SEC. 3633. STUDY OF METHAMPHETAMINE TREATMENT. (a) Study.— 114 STAT. 1237 (1) Requirement.—The Secretary of Health and Human Services shall, in consultation with the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences, conduct a study on the development of medications for the treatment of addiction to amphetamine and methamphetamine. (2) Report.—Not later than 9 months after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary shall submit to the Committees on the Judiciary of the Senate and House of Representatives a report on the results of the study conducted under paragraph (1). (b) Authorization of Appropriations.—There are hereby authorized to be appropriated for the Department of Health and Human Services for fiscal year 2000 such sums as may be necessary to meet the requirements of subsection (a).
