SEC. 502. COMMONWEALTH OF THE NORTHERN MARIANA ISLANDS. (a) Defined as a State.—Section 502(3) is amended by inserting “the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands,” after “Samoa,”. (b) Defined as Part of United States.—Section 311(a)(5) is amended by striking out “the Canal Zone,” and inserting in lieu thereof “the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands,”.
