SEC. 214. SHORE DAMAGE PREVENTION OR MITIGATION. Section 111 of the River and Harbor Act of 1968 (33 U.S.C. 426i) is amended— (1) in the first sentence— (A) by striking “The Secretary” and inserting “(a) In General.—The Secretary”; and113 STAT. 292 (B) by inserting after “navigation works” the following: “and shore damage attributable to the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway and the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway”; (2) in the second sentence, by striking “The costs” and inserting the following: “(b) Cost Sharing.—The costs”; (3) in the third sentence— (A) by striking “No such” and inserting the following: “(c) Requirement for Specific Authorization.—No such”; and (B) by striking “$2,000,000” and inserting “$5,000,000”; and (4) by adding at the end the following: “(d) Coordination.—The Secretary shall— “(1) coordinate the implementation of the measures under this section with other Federal and non-Federal shore protection projects in the same geographic area; and “(2) to the extent practicable, combine mitigation projects with other shore protection projects in the same area into a comprehensive regional project.”.
