SEC. 806. USE OF SPECIAL SIMPLIFIED PROCEDURES FOR PURCHASES OF COMMERCIAL ITEMS IN EXCESS OF THE SIMPLIFIED ACQUISITION THRESHOLD. (a) Extension of Authority.—Section 4202(e) of the Clinger-Cohen Act of 1996 (divisions D and E of Public Law 104–106; 110 Stat. 654; 10 U.S.C. 2304 note) is amended by striking “three years after the date on which such amendments take effect pursuant to section 4401(b)” and inserting “January 1, 2002”. (b) GAO Report.—Not later than March 1, 2001, the Comptroller General shall submit to Congress an evaluation of the test program authorized by the provisions in section 4202 of the Clinger-Cohen Act of 1996, together with any recommendations that the Comptroller General considers appropriate regarding the test program or the use of special simplified procedures for purchases of commercial items in excess of the simplified acquisition threshold.
