REENLISTMENT BONUS.

SEC. 618. REENLISTMENT BONUS. (a) Minimum Months of Active Duty.—Subsection (a)(1)(A) of section 308 of title 37, United States Code, is amended by striking “twenty-one months” and inserting “17 months”. (b) Increase in Maximum Amount of Bonus.—Subsection (a)(2) of such section is amended— (1) in subparagraph (A)(i), by striking “ten” and inserting “15”; and (2) in subparagraph (B), by striking “$45,000” and inserting “$60,000”. (c) Effective Date.—The amendments made by subsections (a) and (b) shall take effect on October 1, 1999, and shall apply with respect to reenlistments and extensions of enlistments taking effect on or after that date.
